Common questions
What is the VAT rate in Ghana in 2026?
From 1 January 2026, a standard-rated sale carries VAT of 15%, NHIL of 2.5% and GETFund levy of 2.5%, each on the price before tax. That is 20% in all. The 1% COVID-19 levy no longer applies.
How was it worked out before 2026?
NHIL (2.5%), GETFund (2.5%) and the COVID-19 levy (1%) were added to the price first, and 15% VAT was then charged on that total. The result was about 21.9% in all.
How do I find the tax inside a price?
Choose "Including tax". Under the 2026 rules the price before tax is the total divided by 1.2, and the difference is the VAT and levies.
Let every invoice work out its own VAT
